(JCPS) holds an Imbizo to bring the law closer to the people for
understanding

The KwaZulu-Natal Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster led by the
MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will on 26
February 2009, be hosting an Imbizo at KwaMadlaka Sports Ground, D-Section in
Ezakheni starting from 10h00 with an intention of bringing the law closer to
the people for better understanding with a specific focus on crime prevention
and how it relates to the Criminal Justice System.
This Imbizo will run concurrently with the project Siyabonisana: We inform
each other; which is an initiative by the Department of Community Safety and
Liaison in partnership with South African Women's Lawyers Association (SAWLA)
and comprises a series of educational messages in the media to increase access
on make matters such as domestic violence, bail and sexual harassment.
The campaign has been taken to the next level of direct interaction with the
public and especially women will be able to access free advice from SAWLA
attorneys and advocates on topics such as land rights, maintenance, marriages,
divorce, domestic violence, drug and liquor laws, criminal proceedings, labour,
wills and estates, social services rights and small claims court matters.
Members of the media are invited to attend and cover this event.
