department are sending their deepest and sincere condolences to the family,
relatives, friends and fellow schoolmates of the deceased learner of Makholwa
High School in Pietermaritzburg Snathing area, who was stabbed to death today

of the school.
According to the information at our disposal, two intruders got inside the
school premises through the school fence during the school break and stabbed a
17 year old grade 9 boy Nhlanhla Mhlongo on the school veranda and he died on
the spot. The reason for stabbing is not known yet, but the incident was
reported to the police and we must allow the police and the rule of law to take
its course. We will be sending psychologists to the school to provide trauma
debriefing to learners and educators at the school.
The school is fenced and has a state paid security personnel. âThis is a
tragic incident indeed we received the news with immense shock and our
heartfelt condolences go out to the family,â said Dr Lubisi.
