âBrand new campus for Clermont communityâ
The Clermont community will not have to think of travelling to bigger cities
for tertiary education and skills development training anymore as KwaZulu-Natal
MEC for education will on Monday 30 March 2009 open a brand new Further
Education and Training (FET) College site under Elangeni College Umbrella that
will serve the community of this area and the surrounding areas.
The department spent R20 million to this campus which is aimed at bringing
education closer to the needy societies. It will create opportunities to all
the out of school youth including adults. A range of bursaries will be offered
by this institution to increase access to education and skills development to
redress the imbalances of the past.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is consolidating the fight against
skills shortages as it is important for education institutions to go out to
those who need skills. Colleges have the potential to service a much wider
community of students and to offer a bigger range, type and level programmes to
alleviate unemployment and poverty.
The function is scheduled as follows:
Date: Monday, 30 March 2009
Time: 9h00
Venue: Clermont (Sub five Community Hall)
Transport for journalist will leave outside Durban playhouse at 8h30.
