literacy celebrations
11 September 2007
At the KwaZulu-Natal Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) Imbizo held
during March 2005, Premier Sibusiso Ndebele said that a plan must be put in
place to ensure that illiteracy in the province is eradicated. In line with the
Premier's call, the ABET component in the Office of the Premier, in partnership
with the Department of Education, arranged for Literacy Celebrations to be
hosted in various parts of the province.
The aim of the literacy celebrations is to:
* motivate ABET learners to further their learning programmes
* share and showcase best practices and experiences
* allow learners to interact with colleagues.
At the literacy celebrations learners from the various government
departments are afforded an opportunity to share their success stories.
Details of the forthcoming celebrations are as follows:
1. Durban: 13 September 2007 commencing at 08h30 at the Chatsworth Soccer
Stadium
2. Ladysmith: 20 September 2007 commencing at 08h30 at the Indoor Sports
Complex
3. Pongola: 27 September 2007 commencing at 08h30 at Ncotshana Sports
Ground
