President Kgalema Motlanthe wishes Zimbabwean Prime Minister

South African President and Chairperson of Southern African Development
Community (SADC), President Kgalema Motlanthe, today Friday 6 March 2009 on
behalf of the government and people of South Africa, SADC as well as on his own
behalf express a wish for a speedy recovery to Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan
Tsvangarai.

Prime Minister Tsvangarai was involved in a car accident on Friday on his
way to his home town where he was expected to address a rally on Saturday.

In this regard, President Motlanthe said “the government and people of South
Africa and indeed those of the rest of the SADC region were shocked to learn of
the accident involving Your Excellency the Prime Minister and your wife
Suzan.”

“The thoughts and prayers of the people of South Africa and SADC region are
with you while wishing you a speedy recovery to enable you to resume your
national responsibilities as Prime Minister to assist the people of Zimbabwe in
their endeavour towards national reconciliation and economic recovery,”
concluded President Motlanthe.
