K Mosunkutu to meet Olievenhoutbosch community, 2 Mar

Mosunkutu to engage people of Olievenhoutbosch on poverty
alleviation projects

Gauteng MEC for Agriculture, Conservation and Environment, Khabisi Mosunkutu
will host a public meeting in Olivenhoutbosch, Tshwane, on Friday, 2 March
2007.

The meeting will discuss and evaluate existing poverty alleviation
programmes, the local homestead garden projects in particular. The existing
Homestead Food Garden Project benefits 500 community members.

MEC Mosunkutu is also expected to discuss further development of
agricultural projects, including establishment of agricultural hubs and other
projects aimed at assisting emerging farmers and disadvantaged communities.
Plans are afoot to launch the first agricultural hub in Metsweding. It is
expected that each hub will host 50 farmers who will focus on niche market
agricultural produce.
