K Lekgoro to visit Itireleng Workshop for Blind, 26 Apr

MEC visits workshop for the blind after mismanagement,
incompetence, maladministration and corruption allegations levelled against the
management

Gauteng MEC for Social Development Mr Kgaogelo Lekgoro will visit the
Itireleng Workshop for the Blind in the Northrand (Tshwane) region. This comes
in the wake of Minister Zola Skweyiya's imbizo, where the community raised very
sensitive issues. It also comes in the wake of mismanagement, incompetence,
maladministration and corruption allegations levelled against the management of
the Itireleng Centre for the Blind by employees. Members of the Gauteng
Legislature Social Development Portfolio Committee are also expected to
attend.

The MEC will also receive a report back from the officials on issues that he
raised in 2006, when he last visited the centre.

The visit will be as follows:
Date: Friday, 26 April 2007
Time: 09h00 to 12h00
Venue: Itireleng Centre for the Blind (see directions below)

Directions to Itireleng workshop for the blind:

1. From Johannesburg drive on the Ben Schoeman highway to Pretoria.
2. Pass the Pretoria Central Prison on your left hand side (this is Potgieter
Street).
3. Proceed straight, turn left into Church Street and then cross two sets of
robots, you'll see a graveyard on your right hand side and a bus depot on the
left hand side
4. at the next robot turn right into DF Malan Street, proceed straight, pass
Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) on the left hand side, pass a set of robots
(there is an Excel Garage on both the left and right hand side), cross another
set of robots and take an off ramp (R80) to Soshanguve on your left hand
side.
5. Proceed straight until you get the Rosslyn/Pretoria North off ramp. Take the
Rosslyn off ramp to your left.
6. Cross a set of robots, proceed straight, cross a three-way stop sign,
proceed straight, cross a set of robots (there is a garage on the left hand
side), proceed straight and then turn right at the off ramp that says
Ga-Rankuwa, proceed straight, pass Medunsa (University of Limpopo) on your
right hand side.
7. At the three-way stop sign (George Mokhari Hospital will be on your right
hand side), proceed straight until a three-way stop sign (there is a taxi rank
on your left-hand side), proceed straight you'll see a brown board indicating
Itireleng workshop for the blind, turn right, drive for about 300 metres, the
entrance to Itireleng will be on your left hand side.
