Tshwane: Transport Minister Jeff Radebe will hold a press conference to
announce and present a report regarding the 2009 Easter holiday season Arrive
Alive road safety initiatives the Department is undertaking.
The Minister will announce official road fatality figures for the 2009
Easter holiday season and plans being undertaken to intensify the Arrive Alive
Campaign throughout the year. This forms part of the Rolling Enforcement Plan
that is carried out through the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).
The Minister will be joined by provincial MECs for Roads and Public
Transport, Transport Agencies CEOs and key stakeholders in the transport
sector. The Department appeals to all road users to exercise extreme caution as
some of the major roads are still expected to be busy with many people
returning from their holiday destinations.
