The acting Health Minister, Mr Jeff Radebe, will be meeting with the Health
MECs from all provinces as the National Health Council (NHC) to consider the
draft National Strategic Plan for HIV and AIDS in Johannesburg tomorrow, 9
March.
The strategic plan is being further developed by a task team made up of HIV
and AIDS experts from government and civil society and will be tabled at the
national consultative meeting on HIV and AIDS on 14 to 15 March.
The media is invited to a briefing on the outcomes of the NHC discussions on
the matter. During the briefing, Minister Radebe will also sign an agreement
with the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Social Affairs, Advocate Bience
Gawanas, which allows South Africa to host the third AU Conference of African
Health Ministers in Johannesburg on 9 to 13 April.
