Municipal ward by-elections will take place in the Eastern Cape, Free State,
Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and the Western Cape on Wednesday, 23 May
2007, the Electoral Commission said.
A total of 13 wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 55 voting
districts in the following wards:
* Eastern Cape (EC): Ward 24 in Lukhanji (Queenstown) Municipality â EC134
with 2 962 registered voters
* Free State (FS): Ward 9 in Ngwathe (Parys) Municipality â FS203 with 3 056
registered voters
* Gauteng: Ward 31 in City of Johannesburg Municipality â Johannesburg with 15
887 registered voters; and Ward 20 in Mogale City (Krugersdorp) Municipality â
GT481 with 4 620 registered voters
* KwaZulu-Natal (KNZ): Ward 68 in eTthekwini Metro, Durban Metro Municipality â
ETH with 12 914 registered voters; Ward 75 also in eThekwini Metro (Durban
Metro) Municipality â ETH with 11 191 registered voters; Ward 1 in Umtshezi
(Estcourt) Municipality â KZN234 with 3 434 registered voters; Ward 5 also in
Umtshezi (Estcourt) Municipality â KZN234 with 4 231 registered voters; Ward 9
in Nqutu (Nqutu) Municipality â KZN242 with 3 429 registered voters; and Ward 5
in Ingwe (Creighton) Municipality â KZN431 with 4 097 registered voters
* North West (NW): Ward 1 in Kgetlengrivier (Koster) Municipality â NW374 with
3 672 registered voters
* Western Cape (WC): Ward 7 in Saldanha Bay (West Coast Peninsula) Municipality
â WC014 with 2 995 registered voters and Ward 1 in Theewaterskloof (Caledon)
Municipality â WC031 with 3 722 registered voters.
