Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to host municipal
by-elections

13 August 2007

Municipal ward by-elections will take place in the Eastern Cape,
KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and North West on Wednesday, 22 August 2007, the
Electoral Commission said.

A total of nine wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 46 voting
districts in the following wards:

* Eastern Cape (EC): Ward 13 in Mbhashe (Idutywa) Municipality – EC121 with
3 878 registered voters and Ward 13 in Nyandeni (Libode) Municipality – EC155
with 3 472 registered voters.
* KwaZulu-Natal (KZN): Ward 57 in eThekwini (ETH) (Durban Metro) Municipality –
ETH with 15 348 registered voters: Ward 5 in Umdoni (Scottburgh) Municipality –
KZN212 with 3 895 registered voters and Ward 7 in the same municipality with 3
724 registered voters.
* Mpumalanga (MP): Ward 3 in Govan Mbeki (Highveld Ridge) Municipality – MP307
with 4 083 registered voters: Ward 2 in Thaba Chweu (Sabie) Municipality –
MP321 with 2 100 registered voters and Ward 18 in Nkomazi (Nkomazi)
Municipality – MP324 with 4 131 registered voters.
* North West (NW): Ward 13 in Madibeng (Brits) Municipality – NW372 with 6 540
registered voters.
