The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) will host a gala dinner to
celebrate its 10 years of existence since its establishment in April 1997. The
said event will be held at the Castle Kyalami Hotel in Midrand on Thursday, 11
October 2007 at 18h00.
The gala dinner which will also honour ICD's current employees who continue
to serve the organisation since its establishment, will be graced by the
attendance of the Minister for Safety and Security, Charles Nqakula.
Furthermore, the ICD's preceding two Executive Directors, Neville Melvile and
Karen Mckenzie will respectively deliver a speech. The Acting Executive
Director, Patrick Mongwe will hand over the long service gifts to the deserving
employees.
The celebration which is by no means an easy feat, especially in light of
the challenges that the ICD has had to overcome in pursuit of fulfilling its
mandate, will provide an opportunity not only to celebrate its achievements but
also to provide attending stakeholders with the opportunity to share this
wonderful milestone with the ICD.
The gala dinner will be attended by high-ranking officials from, among
others, the South African Police Service (SAPS), Secretariat, Metropolitan
Police, Provincial and Local Safety and Security, and any other relevant
stakeholders.
The ICD wishes to extend its pride in reaching this milestone and it will
continue to promote proper police conduct.
