Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa)
publishes draft regulations and code on advertising, infomercials and
sponsorship

Johannesburg: The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa
(Icasa) calls on all interested parties to submit written comments and
representations on the proposed Regulations and Code of Advertising
Practice.

The authority published

1. The draft regulations on advertising, infomercials and sponsorship with
the intention of repealing the 1999 regulations relating to the definition of
Advertising and the Regulation of Infomercials and Programme Sponsorship in
respect of broadcasting activities.

2. The draft supplementary code of practice on advertising, sponsorships and
other forms of commercial promotion for radio and television broadcasting
service licensees which will be submitted to the Advertising Standards
Authority of South Africa for inclusion in their code after proper consultation
with the public.

The submissions are to be received not later than 27 March 2009, and are to
be sent for the attention of Ms Mamedupe Kgatshe or Siphiwe Hlongwane using any
