The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has, after
considering recommendations from Icasa Task Team on Jozi FM accepted the
postponement of the proposed Annual General Meeting from 6 October 2007 to 20
October 2007 to allow for proper preparation. The Authority has further
accepted recommendations that:
The National Community Radio Forum (NCRF) be appointed to arrange for the
Annual General Meeting including:
* identifying the venue for the AGM
* drawing up the agenda for the AGM
* attending to any constitutional matters necessary for the holding of legal
AGM
* attending to the nominations and the election of the new Board of
Directors.
* appointment of Community Forums.
On the other hand, Jozi FM is required to:
* notify the community of the meeting by radio announcements and local print
media
* after consultation with NCRF, invite the members of the community served by
Jozi FM to register as members of the entity to enable them to be eligible to
vote for Board of Directors.
The Board and Management must also prepare and present a report that would
include, amongst others, the following:
* the handover report for the board
* the audited annual financial statements for 2006/07 financial year
* the six months financial statement for the period April to September
2007.
At the conclusion of the AGM, the NCRF furnishes Icasa with a report of the
AGM including, the names and Curriculum Vitaes of the elected Board and
Community Forum members. The Authority hopes that this arrangement will
contribute towards stability and success at Jozi FM.
