The socialisation process of our children needs to enhance national unity,
moral uprightness and social integration. Scouting and the formal educational
system complement each other.
To facilitate co-operation between the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education
and the South African Scouts Association (SASA) until 2009, MEC for Education
Ina Cronje and Reverend Vukile Mehane, the Chief Scout of the South African
Scouts, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU reiterates the
Departmentâs commitment to develop our learnersâ life skills and the scoutsâ
dedication to develop responsible and self-reliant citizens. Through this
agreement the SASA will have facilitated the use of schools for a school-based
scout programme.
