The Department of Home Affairs wishes to inform members of the public that
Germany and the Benelux countries (Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg) will no
longer accept South African temporary passports with effect from 1 March 2007
and 1 April 2007, respectively.
Meanwhile, the department will meet with representatives of these countries
to work out mechanisms to facilitate the movement of South Africans abroad who
are in possession of South African temporary passports to be allowed to use
these documents to return back home.
We urge all potential travellers to apply for their travel documents
timeously to avoid any inconvenience.
