The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Antonio Guterres
will visit South Africa from 22 to 24 August 2007.
Guterres is scheduled to visit the Nyanga Refugees Reception office on
Thursday, 23 August 2007, in Cape Town. Later in the evening he will attend a
dinner hosted by the Minister of Home Affairs Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
During his visit, Guterres is also expected to interact with senior
government officials and other stakeholders.
On Friday, 24 August 2007, the High Commissioner will visit the Crown Mines
Refugee Reception office in Johannesburg where he will interact with refugees
and asylum seekers.
A media briefing is scheduled afterwards at 13h00.
