Home Affairs Cape Town regional office on burglary

The Cape Town office of the Department of Home Affairs in
Barrack Street was a target of burglary this weekend

As far as the preliminary investigations can establish, only two cash
registers were vandalised during the break in and there was no loss of document
of face value passports, identity documents and money.

The office management says they can only anticipate minor disruptions of
service to clients requiring civic services Identity Documents and passports,
birth, marriage and death certificates this morning. However, immigration
services application for visas and permits will remain open as they were not
affected by the burglary.

Efforts are being made to restore the office back to normal and replacement
of cash registers will be made in due course.

The case has already being opened with the South African Police Service
(SAPS).
