National Council of Provinces (NCOP's) five-day sitting

Members of the media are invited to a joint media briefing on the NCOP's
five-day sitting in Sebokeng as part of the Taking Parliament to the People
Campaign. The briefing will be addressed by the Chairperson of the NCOP, Mr
Mninwa Mahlangu and the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Mr
Richard Mdakane.
The campaign, initiated in 2002, is aimed at affording the communities from
the remote areas of the country with an opportunity to interact freely with
their elected representatives on issues affecting their lives.
It also seeks to enhance meaningful participation of the people in the
legislative and democratic processes of parliament. The next sitting will take
place on 12 to 16 March 2007 at the Saul Tsotetsi Recreation and Sports Centre
in Sebokeng.
