Premier's Service Excellence Awards
23 November 2007
The Gauteng Shared Service Centre (GSSC) has won both gold and platinum at
the Premier's Service Excellence Awards for the Mobile Application System, held
last night, 22 November 2007, in Midrand.
The awards give recognition to government departments that excel in
implementing initiatives that improve service delivery.
The Mobile Application System has bee recognised as one such initiative. The
system allows prospective employees to send a short message service (sms)
containing their identity document (ID) number and job reference number to the
GSSC.
The system essentially helps to save money for applicants, reduce paper work
and the time it takes to confirm interview and ultimately appoint of the
suitable candidates.
The process:
* choose an advertised position. Note the job reference number would
ordinarily begin with 7004
* apply by sending a sms, which should look like this: ID: 780125 5555 555 Job
reference number 7004 5555
* sms these details to 37562.
A GSSC agent will call you to capture your details on the system and furnish
you with a tracking number, which you use to check the status of your
application.
Since the launch of the system in May we have received and processed 11 500
jobs through the system.
The award is further confirmation that the GSSC is a pioneer in public
sector innovation.
