'Turn talk into action on AIDS'

The Gauteng AIDS Council will host the provincial AIDS conference on 15 and
16 November 2007. Under the theme: 'Turn Talk into Action on AIDS' the aim of
the conference is to review the Gauteng HIV prevention strategy and develop a
multi-stakeholder response against the epidemic. The conference also seek
operationalise the HIV and AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STI)
National Strategic Plan 2007 to 2011.

About 800 delegates drawn from different stakeholders are expected to
attend. They include faith-based-organisations, non-governmental organisations
(NGOs), local government representatives, health professionals, entertainment
sectors, business community and academics are expected to attend.

Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa will deliver a keynote address on the first
day of the conference. Gauteng Health MEC Brian Hlongwa will provide closing
remarks on the second day of the conference.
