Local Government to put young people high on the agenda

Gauteng Local Government MEC Qedani Dorothy Mahlangu will deliver an opening
address at the two days Gauteng youth summit at Kievits Kroon Country Estate,
Pretoria on Thursday (12 February 2009).
Organised by the Gauteng Department of Local Government (DLG), the Gauteng
Youth Commission (GYC) in conjunction with the South African Local Government
Association (SALGA) Gauteng, the objectives of the summit are to discuss the
state of youth development mainstreaming in municipalities, to identify
challenges faced by municipalities in youth development mainstreaming and to
recommend a guideline towards youth development and positioning of youth
development.
GYC chairperson Lebogang Maile will also make an input at the summit which
will be attended by youth from various municipalities in Gauteng.
