16 April 2009
The MEC for Agriculture Gugile Nkwinti proudly invites you to witness the
launch of a multi purpose Agri-Park that includes a nursery, vegetable gardens
and a processing plant.
During the launch of this park, South African President Kgalema Motlanthe,
his deputy Baleka Mbete have been invited to witness the opening of this unique
investment in rural Eastern Cape.
Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs will also attend.
The Agri-Park is the brainchild of MEC Nkwinti following consultations with
Mbashe communities who raised lack of market as the major hamper in the green
revolution programme launch in the region in 2005.
In response to the market constraints the MEC proposed that a processing
plant should be erected in Dutywa and community of Duff Mission leased 35ha to
the department of agriculture.
The nursery will benefit the Siyazondla farmers who will, along with the
Agri-Park garden supply the processing and the processing plant.
