Minister Fraser-Moleketi will host Employee Health and Wellness
Indaba

Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Geraldine
Fraser-Moleketi invites members of the media to the seventh Employee Health and
Wellness Indaba.

The conference is expected to attract 500 employee health and wellness
practitioners, senior managers, private sector experts and members of
government and intergovernmental organisations.

Some of the key objectives of conference include:

* to launch the consultative document on employee health and wellness
strategic framework made up of four functional pillars of:
* HIV and AIDS (which is aligned to the HIV and AIDS National Strategic Plan
2007 to 2011)
* health management
* occupational hygiene
* wellness management
* to launch the Handbook on Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation (Job
Access) Methodology And Approach
* to locate employee health and wellness in the broader context of national
workers' health as directed by the World Health Organisation's Global Plan of
Action for Workers' Health 2008 to 2017 and set a policy agenda for a national
worker agenda for south Africa
* to identify requisite skills for quantification of evidence, impact, and
productivity that should follow employee health and wellness interventions at
policy and programme implementation level
* to learn from other countries on emerging best practices and developmental
approaches to workers' health promotion and mainstreaming of HIV and AIDS
* to promote workers' health promotion programmes of disease management
programme as managed by Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS) and other
medical aid schemes servicing public servants, development of resilience in
public servants working in stressful environment, psychosocial stressors in the
work place and reasonable accommodation with respect to disability management
in the work place.

Minister Fraser-Moleketi will welcome the delegates and launch the strategic
documents at the official opening of the conference.
