The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre in partnership with the Free State
Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the Consul General of India, Durban,
South Africa, hosted the Crafters Workshop in Revival and Revitalisation of
Folk Art and Culture for Sustainable Livelihood in India, Calcutta.
A team of five crafters and one artistic departmental official attended
these workshops. The workshops officially closed on 6 July 2007 with an
exhibition that was hosted at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre in Calcutta.
The objective of the exhibition was to showcase all the work done by the
crafters in the previous three weeks. A list of invitees included importers and
exporters, government officials, designers and the media. The exhibition was
also open to the general public.
The crafters from the Free State arrived back in the country on 8 July
2007.
