5 May 2007
Free State Department of Health will be celebrating the national polio and
measles campaign from 7 to 10 May at Phase six, ward 45 next to old Grootvlei
shop in Bloemfontein.
The aim of this campaign is to strengthen the immunity of all children less
than five years. This polio campaign forms part of the plan to eradicate the
disease globally. All children under five years must receive an additional dose
of polio and children from nine to 59 months must receive a measles
immunisation as well. These doses are not part of the routine immunisation
schedules.
The polio virus is contagious and causes permanent damage to the infected.
All parents are requested to take their children to the nearest clinic from 7
to 11 May. If you need more information, please contact the nearest clinic or
contact our toll-free number: 0800 53 5554
An immunised child is a protected child!
