Foreign Affairs on release of South African hostages in Yemen

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirms the release of three
South Africans held hostage in Yemen

The Department of Foreign Affairs wishes to confirm the release of three
South Africans who were held hostage in Yemen. According to Ambassador John
Davies in Riyadh, the three were released unharmed last night.

On behalf of President Motlanthe and Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Dlamini
Zuma, our sincere appreciation goes out to Ambassador John Davies in Riyadh and
to our Honorary Consul in Yemen Mr Zubieri for the good work done in securing
the release of the three.

We also thank the Yemen Government for assistance rendered in this matter.
Finally, our appreciation goes out to all those South Africans who took a
moment out to pray for the release of the three.
