Introduction of IEC youth ambassadors

You are invited by the Electoral Commission (IEC) to the launch of the
Commission’s “Youth Ambassador for Electoral Democracy Programme” and the
introduction of the national ambassadors at Innovation Hub in Pretoria on
Thursday, 19 February 2009 at 11h00.

This programme was conceived of at a national youth dialogue convened by the
youth of the IEC on the 30th of October 2008 in Midrand. This memorable event
brought young South Africans from the length and breadth of our country.

The aim of the programme is to promote and increase participation of the
South African youth in the National and Provincial Elections of 2009. The role
of the Ambassadors will be to champion electoral democracy activities in their
respective field of endeavour and various guided initiatives. The Youth
Ambassadors will have a defined role which complements the implementation of
the IEC’s broad communication, civic as well as voter education strategy.
