Final list of candidates for the 2009 elections

In terms of the election timetable, the Chief Electoral Officer on Friday, 3
April 2009, made available the list of parties and final list of candidates to
contest the 2009 national and provincial elections pending the decision of the
Electoral Court.
Today (Saturday), the Electoral Court upheld the appeal by the Chief
Electoral Officer regarding the disqualification of certain candidates. The
court indicated that due to the urgency of the matter reasons for its decision
will be made available in due course.
