Members of the media are notified of a press conference on Tuesday to
explain the architectural process followed to select a design for the new
office block for the premier.
The provincial government of the Eastern Cape intends to build the premierâs
office block of 6 000 square meters in Bhisho. Because of the prestigious
nature of the project a decision was taken that a design competition would be
held which would involve numerous architectural firms submitting designs and
the best design would be selected and implemented.
Architects from all over the country were invited to participate in the
competition. The intention is to create a landmark building for the premier
that resonates with the cultural values, aspirations and characteristics of the
people of South Africa. The architect responsible for the winning design will
be appointed as architect for the project to ensure that the building is
constructed per the design.
