The MEC for Eastern Cape Department of Health, Mrs Nomsa Jajula and her top
management Service Transformation Plan (STP) briefings roadshows rolled into OR
Tambo, Chris Hani, and Ukhahlamba District Municipalities and drew capacity
crowds that filled the halls.
Such was the interest in the STP briefings that stakeholders present ranged
from community based organisations, business community, non-governmental
organisations (NGOs), religious fraternity, etc.
It became apparent that for the STP to be fully realised electricity and
water provision would play a critical role in the roll out of STP.
The people's concerns were quelled when they were given an opportunity to
engage the MEC and Health management in a question and answer session. The
people's suggestions were recorded in order to be integrated into the plan.
The Draft Plan received full backing from the regions briefed so far.
The MEC encouraged stakeholders to get involved in the health centres,
clinics and hospitals to contribute meaningfully to the betterment of service
delivery in the communities.
The community appreciated the MEC's approach in engaging people as such a
level and were thrilled by her welcoming their suggestions.
