Hospital and launches E-health
25 March 2009
The Eastern Cape Department of Health brought services closer to the people
of Mbizana by officially opening the revitalised St Patrickâs Hospital and
launching E-health on the 21 March 2008.
The E-health programme saw an existing gap in both the quality of health
care as well as the access to this health care between the urban and rural
centres in the province. The programme aims to bridge this gap through the use
of information and communication technology hence it coincided with the opening
of the newly revamped hospital.
To date 25 clinics have started the implementation of E-health where nurses
were trained on the programme which is mainly targeting centres of
excellence.
Superintended for the department, Mr Lawrence Boya said the department is
now opening hospital project number three in the last three months, âtoday we
are realising one of human rights, which is to provide quality health careâ,
the SG said.
MEC for Health, Ms Pemmy Majodina urged the people of Mbizana to look after
the hospital âno one will look after these resources but you,â the MEC pleaded.
MEC also mentioned that the day is also a celebration of the partnership
between public sector and the private sector together with the community.
