30 April 2009
The Eastern Cape Department of Healthâs employees gathered at the Roji
Skenjana Hall to bid farewell to Superintendent General (SG), Mr Lawrence Boya
whose contract expires at the end of April 2009.
Mr Boya, known by managers as a strategist has been with the department for
five years and has led the department to a number of successes.
Deputy Director-General (DDG) for Clinical Services, Dr Diliza spoke on
behalf of the top management and said SG was very dedicated and as management
they have really learnt a lot from him. âI met with SG two years ago and he was
noticeably someone who loved doing what he did,â Dr Diliza said.
Chief Operations Officer, Mr Phumzile Zitumane thanked SG for the leadership
he provided and most importantly the foundation he has laid for the department
to build on. âIt is only appropriate for us as a department to thank SGs family
who gave him away to the department,â COO said.
SG thanked everybody for the support and respect given to him and admitted
that there were still challenges within the department, some of which have been
inherited by the department. âI am now proud to say I have learnt all the
complexities of health from this department and Iâm not afraid to say I am a
strategist and a visionary,â Boya said.
