The Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Enver Surty and the Deputy Minister of
Home Affairs, Mr Malusi Gigaba, will on Thursday, 15 June 2006, visit Esayidi
Further Education and Training (FET) College (Gamalakhe Campus) at Port
Shepstone in KwaZulu Natal as part of the Youth and Democracy Education
Campaign (YDEC).
The Youth and Democracy Education Campaign (YDEC) is an initiative of the
Department of Education and the Department of Home Affairs aimed at:
* ensuring that the youth of south africa participate in the countryâs
democratic processes
* deepening democracy education among young people with the view of promoting
good citizenship.
The campaign is also used to profile the FET College sector as an important
sector in the education system for intermediate to high skills development
training. It targets mainly young people residing in deep rural and nodal areas
of our country.
