The Premier of North West, Edna Molewa, is happy and satisfied with the
announcement of the North West matric results this morning.
"While we share the joy with most of our matriculants who have passed, more
still need to be done to ensure all of our schools who performed badly are well
supported next year."
Premier Molewa says the improvement in the matric results from 63% to 67% is
an indication of the efforts and commitment that the entire Education
Department has made ensuring that they better the education in the North
West.
"I fully appreciate the commitment made by our educators and believe that if
all systems are fully geared and focused 100% pass rate is within reach.
"Iâm also delighted to hear that the schools which received bad publicity
for their poor performance recently such as, Huhudi Secondary School in Vryburg
has had a 58% matric pass rate. Surely if this school can achieve such a
percentage, other grades could also do the same and even much better. I hope
that the intervention made by MEC OJ Tselapedi and his higher authorities will
assist put more effort embettering the grades next year. Kgononyane High School
will really have to receive special attention though they had a slight
improvement from 15% â 19% matric pass rate, " she said.
Premier Molewa once again says, "congratulations to all matriculants who
passed and wish them well with their careers. To the matriculants who did not
perform well, I hope theyâll do better next year and improve on the mistakes.
They must not think this is the end of the world but a hurdle that may be
overcome if more effort is made. Study hard and be focused then youâll see
better results. All of the best. "
