North West Premier Edna Molewa is leading the provincial delegation to the
Summit on Global Leadership, which will be held in Nassau in Bahamas from 4 to
8 November 2007.
The Premier was invited by renowned motivational speaker, Myles Monroe, of
the International Third World Leaders Association, who was the keynote speaker
during the launch of the North West Ethical Leadership Programme in Mafikeng
last month.
The North West Provincial Government has identified the Ethical Leadership
Programme as part of the anti-corruption strategy and the promotion of good
governance.
"We believe that this trip comes at an opportune time for the leadership of
the North West provincial government to further learn more lessons and good
practices critical for instilling the culture of good, loyal and patriotic
governance in a quest to root-out corruption in the public service."
"It is important to note that we will do everything possible to ensure that
the culture of anti-corruption prevails among public servant and this is but
one step to the right direction," said Premier Edna Molewa.
The Premier will be accompanied by the following MECs:
* MEC for Finance: Maureen Modiselle
* MEC for Health: Nomonde Rasmeni
* MEC for Education: Johannes Tselapedi
The delegation seeks to achieve the following objectives by attending the
summit:
* enhance the ethical leadership to promote good governance
* broaden the provincial delegation's perspective on strategic leadership
* enhance general leadership abilities and innovation.
Molewa explained that the summit would serve as a relevant platform for the
North West delegation to get in touch with challenges facing other regions of
the world on issues of ethics.
In this regard, she added: "This will therefore allow us to learn best
practices possible that can be useful in the context of our fight against fraud
and corruption in government," said the Premier.
