E Molewa to host Mafikeng Air show during Transport Month, 6 Oct

Colourful, noisy, fun air show hits Mafikeng again this
Saturday at the Mafikeng Airport

All fun loving air show fanatics will be treated with magnificent air show
display themed "Bringing Aviation to the People".

The show hopes to attract people from all walks of life, as symbolised by
the theme.

The renowned world aerobatic champions, Jurgis Kairys of Luthania and Zoltan
Veres of Hungary are back and have promised an exhilarating show with their
aerobatic display.

The Mafikeng Air show forms part of the Transport Month which was launched
by Premier Edna Molewa on Tuesday. She said transport sector is increasingly
becoming one of the best engines for economic growth and social
development.

"The rate at which our economy is growing, the increased investment in the
industrial development is a visible warning that our transport services and
economy and the ever-increasing influx of international visitors and the
booming infrastructure should match this growth," said Premier Molewa.

Mafikeng Air show will also contribute towards the economic spin-offs for
the province especially the capital city as people will be visiting the
province this weekend.

A number of exhibitors will showcase their products and departments will
also exhibit their services. The South African Air Force, Siyandiza Programme,
will also showcase their awareness programme to lure youngsters to join
aviation and become pilots, air navigators, etc.

The South African Air force will put a fantastic display with their Rooivalk
simulating ground attacks amongst others and the very last display of the
Cheaters.

A number of foreign visitors from Royal Saudi Air force, New Zealand, Japan
and Southern African Democratic Community (SADC) countries are already in
Mafikeng preparing for the big day on Saturday.

Music entertainment during display breaks will be offered by local artists
such as Chomee, Tuks and Morafe.

The air show starts at 08h00. Children will enter free while adults will pay
a minimum fee of R20 00. Bring picnic baskets along and enjoy the day.
