Defence to host chief of joint operations media briefing, 20 Feb

Invitation to attend the chief of joint operations media
briefing

13 February 2009

The Chief of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Themba Matanzima, will
host a media briefing on Friday, 20 February 2009, at the Joint Operations
Division Headquarters, Swartkop Park.

He will use this occasion to address the following issues:

* the role and functions of the Joint Operations Division.
* the status of external South African National Defence Force (SANDF)
operations.
* the status of internal SANDF operations.

You are invited to send a Journalist and or photographer or cameraman to
attend the briefing by the Chief of Joint Operations at the Joint Operations
Division Headquarters, Swartkop Park on Friday, 20 February 2009, at 08h10 for
08h30

Directions to Joint Operations Division Headquarters, Stephanus Schoeman
Road, Swartkop Park, Valhalla

Directions from Johannesburg to Joint Operations HQ

* take the N1 North (Polokwane)
* follow the N14 to Pretoria
* turn left at the M24 Valhalla offramp, road bends to the left
* turn right at the stop sign at the end of the bend
* proceed straight on the M24 towards Valhalla.
* M24 becomes Trichardt Road after the first set of robots
* follow the road until at the T-junction (third set of robots)
* Thaba Tshwane town hall will be in front of you at the robots)
* turn left at the robots
* follow the road, which bends to the right before the entrance of JSB
garrison
* the road curves (slipway) to the right past JSB garrison entrance
* turn left at the road-split before the stop sign
* proceed straight on past two sets of stop signs
* drive past the Northern Military MP HQ on your right hand and continue
driving down the road
* Joint Operations HQ is about 2 kilometres ahead on your left.

* turn left into the main gate at Joint Operations HQ (cannon display)
* proceed through the main gates and drive up the hill.
* pass through the second and third gates
* the headquarters is on the left.

Direction from Fountains Circle to SANDF Joint Operations HQ

* from the Fountains Circle take the Fountain/Centurion turn-off
* turn right at the robots and continue straight on with the road towards Thaba
Tshwane
* proceed straight passing the Voortrekker Monument on your right
* turn left at the second set of robots towards Thaba Tshwane
* continue straight ahead passing a golf course on your left and one Military
Hospital on your right.
* drive past two sets of stop signs and over railway tracks.
* continue straight ahead towards SAFI and the town hall
* drive past two sets of traffic lights
* follow the road until it bends to the right before the entrance of JSB
garrison.
* the road curves (slipway) to the right past JSB garrison entrance
* turn left at the road-split before the stop sign
* proceed straight on past two sets of stop signs
* drive past the Northern Military MP HQ on your right hand and continue
driving down the road.
* Joint Operations HQ is about two kilometres ahead on your left,

* turn left into the main gate at Joint Operations HQ (cannon display)
* proceed through the main gates and drive up the hill
* pass through the second and third gates
* the headquarters is on the left.
