Hanekom will turn the first sod for essential oils
project

The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Mr Derek Hanekom together
with the Mayor of Amathole District Municipality, Mr Saki Moyo will turn the
first sod for an essential oils project in the upper Tyume Valley.

The trials are co-ordinated by "Essential Amathole", a community/private
partnership growing essential oils in the Amathole region of the Eastern Cape.
The project focuses on the Tyume, Keiskamma and Kat River valleys, and the
areas surrounding Hogsback. During this year, the project will undertake trials
for various essential oil crops on seven different sites. The success of the
project will contribute to job creation and will also boost the local
economy.
