Correctional Services receives a memorandum of demands and
grievances by SAPOHR

28 April 2006

The Department of Correctional Services acknowledges receipt of the
memorandum of “demands and grievances” as presented by South African Prisoners'
Organisation for Human Rights (SAPOHR) today.

In this positive gesture the memorandum will be officially analysed by the
leadership of the Department of Correctional Services accordingly.

It is also important for the people of the country including the leadership
of SAPOHR and its affiliates that during this “Age of Hope” Correctional
Services signals the emergence of acting together and in unison to ensure
safety and security for all.

Correctional Services management and staff also appreciate the shared
responsibilities with colleagues within the criminal justice sectors and
amongst our partners in South Africa and the world.
