Complaints Directorate on three million settlement with Tabisa
Ralo

Media Statement

26 March 2009

The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) would like to place it on
record that at no stage was the suspended KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Head,
Ms Tabisa Ralo, offered a three million settlement or any settlement
whatsoever, in order for her to vacate her position as KZN Provincial Head.

The ICD can prove that Ms Ralo approached its Acting Head, Mr Elias Valoyi
with a settlement proposition on 20 February 2009. The response to her
settlement proposition was communicated to her in writing and the ICD still has
that response as evidence. We therefore dispel this three million rand
settlement as a blatant lie and wish to inform that the trial is still
continuing.

She also approached the Chairperson of the Disciplinary Hearing when her
trial sat on Monday, 23 March 2009, with the same proposition and when this was
turned down by the ICD she accused the Chairperson of being biased and asked
that she recuse herself from the hearing. The ICD wanted to ensure a fair trial
and therefore had to consider Ms Ralo's view and this is the only reason why
the ICD appointed a new chairperson.

There is no way that the directorate can agree to any settlement proposition
from Ms Ralo since its position is that there are charges against her which she
has to answer to.
