The brutal killing of the Speaker of Mbombela Municipality has come as a
shock to the MEC for Local Government and Housing. MEC Candith Mashego-Dlamini,
on behalf of the Provincial Government, has sent her condolences to the family
of the late Cllr Jimmy Mohlala, the community of Kanyamazane and Mbombela Local
Municipality.
MEC Mashego-Dlamini has applauded Cllr Mohlala on the sterling work that he
has done for the Mbombela municipality and the province as a whole. âHe was one
of the longest serving councillors in the province, who has been there since
the pre interim stages of local government transition from the segregated black
and white local authorities to the present non-racial and democratic
dispensation. He was instrumental in the formation of the current Mbombela
municipality. He contributed to the resolution of Mbombelaâs problems during
the section 130 intervention by the provincial government. His untimely death
is a huge loss to the province and the country,â said MEC Mashego-Dlamini
MEC Mashego-Dlamini has further called upon the law enforcement agencies to
move with speed in apprehending the culprits behind this merciless and
senseless killing. âWe call upon members of the public who might have any
information that will lead to the arrest of these criminals to inform the
police so that we can make sure that they are arrested,â she added.
