Disability Month

The Gauteng Department of Health will commemorate the intellectual
disability month at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Sebokeng on Wednesday, 11
March 2009. The event forms part of efforts to raise awareness about the plight
of intellectual disabled persons in the province.
The aim of the project is to inform the community of their role towards
children with intellectual disabilities and to report progress made regarding
the promotion of rights of intellectual disabled persons and mental health in
general. Through these efforts communities will be informed about early
identification of intellectual disabilities.
The MEC of Health, Brian Hlongwa, will deliver a key note address at the
event.
