Gauteng hosts Primary Healthcare Research Conference

The Gauteng MEC for Health Brian Hlongwa will deliver a keynote address on
the first day of the department's annual Prakash Vallabh Specialist Research
Conference taking place from Thursday, 22 November 2007 to Friday, 23 November
2007.

Dr Prakash Vallabh died in 1995 after he was shot in the driveway of his
Lenasia home. A dedicated primary healthcare activist, Dr Vallabh was committed
to helping the poor to tackle their social problems. The aim of the conference
is to promote and celebrate 10 years of primary healthcare research. The
conference will also serve as a platform to share research findings and enhance
skills of primary healthcare professionals.

About 500 people including top academics, researchers and health
professionals are expected to attend this two-day conference.
