Creecy calls for nominations for Gauteng Arts and Culture
Council (GACC) members

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Barbara Creecy is
inviting members of the public to submit names for nomination of three (3)
candidates to occupy vacant seats available at the Gauteng Arts and Culture
Council.

The nominated candidates will be responsible for the objectives of the
Council which includes the development and promotion of arts and culture in the
province to the advantage of all the inhabitants of the province and taking
into account the historical imbalances in the development and promotion of arts
and culture.

The Council is also expected to advise the MEC on the disbursement of grants
to artists, cultural workers and students of arts and culture.

The nominees should be knowledgeable in the arts and culture industry and
should:

* be a South African citizen
* reside in the province of Gauteng
* have achieved a distinction in the arts or culture, in arts education, or in
culture management
* be fit and proper
* Have a special knowledge or experience that may prove useful to the
Council.

Members of the GACC do not receive salaries, but will be compensated for
expenses associated with serving on the Council. Nominations with a brief
motivation can be submitted by both organisations and individuals.

These should be accompanied by a brief curriculum vitae and a letter of
acceptance from the nominee and forwarded to the following address:
