MEC Cele to officially open Ntethe Bridge

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele,
will be at D-Section of uLundi in the sports ground of uLundi at 09h00 to
officially open the Ntethe Bridge on Sunday, 19 April 2009.

The opening the first phase of the construction of Intethe River Bridge was
initially requested by a ward councillor in 2006. To date, an estimated cost of
R1,7 million has been spent for the project. About 47 job opportunities have
been created for locals 37 males and 10 females. The number of people that will
utilise the bridge after completion is huge. This includes S’khalelumuzi
Primary School and Insikayendlu High School, a hospital and mobile clinics, a
police station, public transport and historical sites etc, will benefit from
the bridge.

“Since our liberation in 1994 we as the government have been committed to
bettering the lives of the people, especially those who reside in rural areas.
Under the theme Imisebenz’iyabonakala, sibuyisela okwabantu kubantu, the
KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport continues to defend the weak at all
levels of society,” said Cele.
