KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele
will officiate at the sod turning ceremony of the road P368/P373 on Tuesday, 13
January 2009. The ceremony will take place at 09h00 at kwaMnguni Open Field
eMhlangana, Msinga.
Road P368/P373 starts at the intersection with main road P6/3 approximately
91 kilometres from Dundee and proceeds towards a densely populated village. The
upgrade of this road will benefit the people of Mhlangana and other local
communities as it is a shortcut between them and Uthukela, where all the basic
services like the clinic and pension pay point are found.
The road is 43,5 kilometres long; however, it will be upgraded in phases.
The first phase is five kilometres long and is expected to be completed at the
end of March. It will cost approximately R26 million and create jobs for 6 000
people.
"Since our liberation in 1994 we as the government have been committed to
bettering the lives of the people, especially those in rural areas. The KZN
Department of Transport continues to defend the weak at all levels of society.
Under the theme Imisebenz' iyabonakala, sibuyisela okwabantu kubantu," said
Cele.
