The National Department of Arts and Culture in conjunction with the
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government will host the commemoration of the 40th
anniversary of the death of Inkosi Albert Luthuli, the first African Peace
Nobel Laureate, on Sunday, 4 November 2007.

President Thabo Mbeki will deliver the keynote address at this event which
will commence at 10h00 at a public gathering at the Recreational Grounds in
KwaDukuza, preceded by the first formal visit to the Charlotdale Station where
Chief Luthuli was killed, where a tree-planting ceremony will take place and a
plaque unveiled, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Groutville
Congregational Church.

Media are advised to pick up their accreditation cards from 07h30 to 08h30
on Sunday, 4 November 2007, at the Stanger High School, on Theunsen Road,
opposite Stanger Recreational Grounds. For any information regarding
accreditation, kindly liaise with Swazi Dlamini from the Government
Communications (GCIS) on 083 964 0961.

Media will then be briefed about the proceedings for the day including the
site visits and transportation. All media will be transported from Stanger High
School to the two sites due to shortage of space.
