The Department of Agriculture invites members of the media to the 2007 World
Food Day celebration to be held in Mpumalanga on 16 October.
The United Nations sanctioned theme for this year is 'Right to Food'. The
event, whose aim is to highlight the plight of poverty and food insecurity in
South Africa and globally, will see other social cluster departments in
Mpumalanga also joining in the proceedings.
The event will start with a 1 km march into the stadium led by Minister
Xingwana, the Mpumalanga Premier Thabang Makwetla and the MEC of Agriculture
Dina Pule.
Members of the media will be afforded the opportunity to interview the
Minister and officials, including the United Nation's Food and Agriculture
Organisation (FAO) representative.
