Law-flouting in the North West province continue to feel the heat as
government crackdown on wholesale and retail intensified today, with a
Christiana clothing company given four days to comply or face prosecution.
Labour inspectors currently conducting the raids in the area, found Cell
Sound and Fashion Boutique owners contravening various sections of the
Unemployment Insurance Fund, Basic Conditions of Employment, Compensation of
Injuries and Diseases, as well as Labour Relations Acts.
Another employer, a liquor-store owner, was given 20 days to comply after it
was found he was not compensating some of his employees according to the
stipulated amount, and was not issuing any pay slips.
Labour spokesperson, Zolisa Sigabi, today warned that law enforcement and
appropriate measures would be intensified against any employer, whether big or
small.
